Classes will lead to Certification by the American Heart Association

Cost is $10.00 per person, and includes a CPR Mask.

Do YOU know CPR?

This morning in Lamoille County, a young boy is alive, because someone new CPR. Today, a family is still whole, because someone new CPR. Last evening, a lifeguard, at work during one of his regular shifts, followed the basic steps he’d been trained to do, and he saved a life. It was a busy scene, as many would expect. An officer from the local fire department was there to assist, just last week he’d refreshed his CPR certification with his fellow firefighters. Police officers arrived, they know CPR. The ambulance was summoned but was returning from another previous call, first responders from the town’s Rescue Squad showed up to help, they all know CPR. If you had been there, if you were a bystander…would you know what to do? If you were out and about anywhere and saw someone in trouble, a child, a father, a grandmother, someone’s brother/sister/son/daughter/wife/husband/aunt/uncle, someone’s friend, do YOU know how to help? Find and take a CPR class, learn how to use an Automated External Defibrilator (AED), they are becoming more and more common, and they are easy to use. Electronic Patient Care Reporting

Electronic Medical Records have become common-place in hospitals and doctors offices. Why should Emergency Medical Services be any different.

To ensure the security and confidentiality of the patients we care for, Stowe Rescue has invested in a new electronic patient care reporting system that meets standards mandated by the Federal Government for confidential patient information. In addition, ruggedized laptops have been purchased for both of our ambulances and our Paramedic first response vehicle to allow for quick and accurate documentation of each patient contact.

The new system also allows us to analyze and trend the information gathered. This enables us to see what parts of our service to the community work well, as well as what area can use improvement. This information will help us continually refine and improve the service we provide.

The new system went on-line July 1st.

New Public Safety Facility

After months of planning and about a year of construction, the Fire and Rescue Departments as well as the Police Department moved into the new Public Safety Facility toward the end of May. Located at 350 South Main Street, the Public Safety Facility is designed not only for daily operations, but to function as an Emergency Operations Center in time of disaster.

A public open house and flag raising ceremony were held on June 5th with a fantastic turn-out from the public, but if you didn’t make it stop in for your own personal tour.

The Virus Formerly Known As Swine Flu

The Swine Flu H1N1 Virus outbreaks continue to pile up, so the CDC has made various resources available so we can all stay informed. First is a Google Map showing all the reported cases, and the second is a Twitter page with lots of good information for the general public and clinicians alike.
